As you may have guessed Alan spends a lot of time out and about photographing wildlife in Alaska. When the action happens he needs to be ready and only uses the best possible equipment in order not to miss that vital shot. Part of this decision making process is choosing a boat from which photograph whales, orcas and sea-lions. For his purposes Alan thinks a highly stable, fast and reliable boat with professional crew is essential. For this reason he ONLY whale watches with Captain Jack on the M/V Scania. For this same reason Scania was selected by Discovery Channel (Jeff Corwin) for three days of wildlife filming for their "Inside Alaska" documentary, and by the advertising firm for Princess Cruises for filming their ships cruising the Alaskan waters. The Scania is a twin hull catamaran with ample space for up to 14 people, it has a cruising speed of 28 knots... which means that getting to where the action is happening is not a problem.
